Teacher Appreciation Ideas

Today was the day Jonathan Perkins got his first 'real job' as he held his offer letter and stood by the shining glass window of his new office that was a fifty storied building in the heart of New York. He closed his eyes only to see his entire childhood flash in front of his eyes. Having been a difficult student in his school, Jonathan was kicked out of several schools until he landed in Mrs. Gome's class.

The teacher who had transformed him from an infamous brat to one of the brightest kids in school who went on to complete his further education in the field of law. Jonathan could think of no other place but the county in Oklahoma, where his teacher lived...It had almost been a decade, and yet the image of his teacher was crystal clear in his mind...the teacher who made him the man he was today...

Teachers are an inseparable part of our transformation from an innocent prancing child to responsible adults. Often when we are studying at school we do not realize the importance of the values and good habits that our teachers try to imbibe in us. These good habits and values inculcated at school or college are etched onto our minds and play an instrumental role in shaping our opinions, our thought process and our overall personality.

A teacher need not be the person who taught you how to do math in school, or how to read or even paint - a true teacher is the one who taught you the importance of math in your day-to-day life, and the one who took time to introduce you to the world of colors and taught you to express yourself with every stroke of the brush on the canvas.

A teacher need not be the one who taught you in school. It could also be your next-door neighbor who was a great influence in your childhood, your mother, your father, your sibling or even your friend who taught you important lessons of life without being didactic. Teachers are people who influence our lives and inspire us to aim for the best things in our life.

All of us have such special teachers in our lives that are a source of constant inspiration and encouragement in our lives. At times it happens that just thinking of your teacher makes you feel comfortable in difficult situations and gives you enough support to go ahead without hesitation. Teachers are those special people, who spend their entire lives trying to impart wisdom and make us more responsible and wise, without any expectations.

Often it is said that a student's achievement is perhaps the biggest award a teacher can get. However there are several opportunities for us to express our gratitude and appreciation towards our teachers. If you really want to express your appreciation towards your teacher, remember that no amount of money can buy you the perfect gift for your teacher. Visit your teacher and have a hearty conversation about how he / she has helped you to be a better person. You can always buy them flowers, a big box of chocolates or give them a huge card with the entire class's best wishes and thanks.

Although we take it for granted that our teachers know how much we respect them, which they do, it is always a heart warming experience to chat with your teacher and tell her that although she / he might not even remember your name now, you were able to be a better human being because of them.
