Which Computer Brand is the Best
When we purchase a laptop or a desktop or basically any computer, for office use or for personal use, there are countless things that we consider right from the processor speed, computer memory, hard disks, hardware, etc. The concept of branding has been used extensively in the computer markets and the brand mark is a valuable parameter of comparison.
There are many good contenders to be considered as the best computer brand. It is just like asking, which car manufacturer is the best. Now, if we look at the laptop market, there are various models and products that can have different specifications and features. As a result of the different features the different computers, deciding the best brand becomes difficult, due to the fact that every computer brand, though manufacturing a good piece of technology, tends to deliver some drawbacks, practical and also technical. Practical drawbacks may include not having good after-sales service or even high cost. Technical problems may include drawbacks in the system performance or hardware distortions. Fact is no computer brand is the 'ideal' one, but we can short list some brands for people who are planning purchasing a new computer. It must be noted that in the following paragraphs, brands in a broad sense have been elaborated upon, they include laptops, desktops computers as well as some other hardware.
Sony VAIO
You will find several surveys such as best computer brands, 2010, 2009 or best computer brand to buy today, best computer brand for gaming, or even the best desktop computer brand, etc. Well the point is Sony VAIO (Video Audio Integrated Operation or Visual Audio Intelligence Organizer) is found in every list. This computer brand is a 10 year Sony developed marquee or top of the range laptops. Technical experts have always advocated the use of this brand , due to the fantastic research and development that has been put into the brand due by Sony. Another merit that is pointed out by several technical experts is the top of the range hardware that is sourced by VAIO, and it includes, Intel, Segate technology, Hitachi, Infineon, Fujitsu, Atheros, Qimonda, etc. VAIO is manufactured using some top of the range hardware components, which are sourced and manufactured under high quality-maintenance standards. VAIO uses Windows 7 as its operating system. Some cooling and heat control problems, that are quite rare and a substantial cost are the two drawbacks of this computer brand. Prominent VAIO series includes, the F, E, S, Y, Z, X, M, P, L/J series which are business laptops, and the P, Z, S series which are the business laptops. There are also some substantial limited edition laptops that can be opted for.
Apple Mac
Who can forget the legendary Mac or Macintosh marquee by Apple computers. The family of personal computers is a renowned one in North American and European society, not to mention the substantial number of I-want-to-own a Mac enthusiasts and a wide range of loyal users who advocate the supremacy of Mac over several other brands. Well these loyalists do have a point as Steve Jobs and Mac design team (first design team included: George Crow, Joanna Hoffman, Burrell Smith, Andy Hertzfeld, Bill Atkinson and Jerry Manock)are tagged as universal champions of computer design. The Mac family was born in 1984 and is one of the oldest computer brand that has been ruling a substantial segment of market. The Mac has been researched and developed since then and have evolved to be the finest examples of quality controlled manufactured. Just like VAIO, Apple sources a substantial volume of hardware from companies such as Asus, Intel, ATI Radeon or nVidia GeForce, etc. The quality control is absolute and the hardware is utterly foolproof. The research and development by the Mac team is an ever ongoing process and a bid to deliver the best quality product is the only objective. When you take a Mac product, you have worlds best quality maintained hardware and also the software. The current Mac marquee includes, MacBook Air, MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Pro and iMac. The drawbacks of this family of computers is that they are quite expensive and are also not powered by Windows, which in some cases can prove to be trouble some.
Cost is an important element that is considered by the manufacturer as well as the purchaser. The aforementioned are two brands that are mainly used by corporates. However from a common man's point of view, for purposes like gaming, general personal use and for purposes like taking a laptop to college, investing a mammoth sum is not necessary and in most of the cases is also pointless. The following three are reasonably priced products, and to be fair and honest they are really, really good.
Gateway and Acer
Gateway is a subsidiary of Acer and thus the models, are quite congruent. Gateway is prominently used in the United States. A 1985 company, Gateway was founded on a farm and PCs were shipped in boxes that carried cow patterns, not to mention the delightful cow mascot of the company. The indirect company model was direct sales and service to all consumer segments. Well it did work well and following Dell it is solely titled as the 'consumer's brand'. Gateway is a prominent Windows 7 user and its hardware is deemed to be durable and of course of a top grade quality. Personally I would prefer a Gateway anytime as it is not-so-expensive and also-not-so cheap category product, which delivers a very good performance and caters to all sorts of consumer satisfaction. Acer on the other hand has more global footing with its presence being felt in South East Asia. Some common Gateway products include, LT, EC, ID, NC and P Laptop series and ZX, SX, DX and FX desktop series. The drawback of this brand is that you need to be careful while using it, you cannot throw it around.
Dell
When it comes to good computers, especially laptops computers, the name Dell has to appear on the list. Michael Dell who heads one of the best and largest technical corporations in the world, and is largely customer oriented, conceived the notion that the best computer manufacturer is the one who caters directly to his consumers. Well this Dorm room idea was certainly genius and today millions of people prefer to own a Dell. Today the consumer centered company has helped the society to grasp the real meaning of the term by launching marquees, that cater to all segments of the market. The business computer families by Dell include, OptiPlex, Vostro, Precision, and Latitude. The ones for personal use include Inspiron, Studio, Studio XPS, XPS, Adamo and Alienware. Dell computers are classified as per segments that range from high-end to low-end and are priced accordingly. The conclusion is, whatever you take is going to be of a good quality. Dell provides Windows and Linux OS.
Every computer is good in itself, you need to find the one that suits your needs the best. While finalizing your decision, ask yourself some questions, such as 'what am I going to do with the computer for the next 3-5 years', 'which software am I going to load on it', 'which games am I going to play', etc. Then get quotations, compare the prices and features, try to find the one that fits your needs and then take up the actual computer buying.
