Easiest Way to Tie a Tie
One of the important dress accessories for men is a necktie. You need to get the perfect knot in order to look your best. There are many times I am sure you must have frantically been trying to tie your tie, especially when you have less than 5 minutes for your entry into the board room. Or maybe you are the best man and your friend is half way to the altar and you are still struggling to find the easiest way to tie a tie. You are late for an interview and you are trying on different ways to tie a tie with your girlfriend. Unfortunately, both you and your girlfriend have no clue about how to tie a tie. If at least one of these examples is the story of your life, then you should learn the easiest way to tie a tie. This is what we are going to do today. We will learn to tie a tie. And by this, I don't mean to give instructions about fancy tying methods for ties. But, help you learn a simple way to tie a tie and help save your life from impending doom in the social circle.
Simple Way to Tie a Tie
There are different ways to tie a tie. For example, the four-in-hand knot, half Windsor knot, the Pratt knot, and the formal bow tie knot. Of these, the easiest way is the four-in-hand knot. It is an asymmetrical knot that looks great on wide collar shirts. You can use this way for shirts with narrow collar openings. Let us have a look at the best way to tie a tie using the four-in-hand knot.
- You need to wear the tie around the neck and place the wide end on your right side and the narrow end on the left.
- You need to cross the wide end over the narrow end and bring it back underneath the narrow end.
- Then, bring the wide end around and pass it across the front of the narrow end.
- The wide end needs to be passed through the loop.
- The knot needs to be held loosely and the wide end passed through the loop in the front.
- You need to slide the knot up in a snug by hold the narrow end.
Different Ways to Tie a Tie
We are talking about the half-Windsor knot, that is, another way to tie a tie. This knot is more symmetric and looks more formal than the four-in-hand knot. Although it is a simple way to tie a tie, it is slightly more difficult than the four-in-hand knot. You can use this knot for any formal as well as informal occasion.
- You need to wear the tie around your neck such that the wide end is on the right and the narrow end is on the left.
- The wide end should be extended about 12 inches below the narrow end of the tie.
- You need to take the wide end and cross it over the narrow end.
- Then turn the wide end around and then behind the narrow end.
- Bring the wide end up and pull it down the loop towards the right side.
- The wide end needs to be brought around the front side over the narrow end from the right to left.
- Now, bring the wide end up again and then pull it down the loop.
- Bring the wide end through the knot in the front. Use both hands to tighten the knot and pull it up the collar.
