How to Write a Conclusion
In any written matter, there are several thoughts and ideas. Whether it is a journal entry, blog, article writing, story or novel. It will have more than one thought or concept in it. So, then, what is it that makes the reader bind all the thoughts together? It is the conclusion. The way the mind works is that every thought is analyzed and processed individually while the reader reads the material. However, if the writer does not bring all the concepts and ideas together, to form one basic conclusion, the reader will be left with a very vague idea of the material. In fact, an incomplete or insufficient conclusion can render the best written matter into a mass of gibberish. So, how to write a good conclusion? Let's get to know that!
Writing a Concluding Paragraph in General
Like I have already said, the conclusion is the string that holds the logic of the entire written matter. When writing a conclusion paragraph, one needs to know the exact idea that is being expressed by the written matter. Which means that, no matter how many deviations you take in the entire matter, you need to come back to the base line in the conclusion. Like, if you are writing a personal letter, you will let the recipient know of all the things that you wish to tell them. However, you will conclude the letter with best wishes and the basic idea of the letter.
If you are writing an article, then the conclusion will be the closing idea that you wish to express. In any article, or report etc, the conclusion paragraph is that which leaves an impression on the reader. So, the conclusion paragraph has to hold the gist of the information as well as the opinion. For example, if you are discussing a disease in an article, the entire article will include facts and statistics about the disease, but the conclusion is that which will hold the human touch and let the reader know that it affects lives, and that health is the ultimate wealth.
Conclusion for a Research Paper
In a research paper, one tends to include a whole load of information. It often seems very to the point and computerized. The stats are the same every where and the facts cannot be changed. Hence the only two aspects of the research paper that can give the writer and an USP for the paper are the introduction and the conclusion. The introduction is often about the basis of the research. Many writers prefer to write what inspired them to do the research as well.
When it comes to the conclusion, many people make the mistake of forgetting to write it. It is a very important thing to remember to write a conclusion. A research paper without a conclusion is like a debate without any consensus. What is it that you achieve from the research? Have you learned any personal lessons in the process of the research? Has the research and the findings changed the way you perceive the subject? All these questions need to be answered subtly in the conclusion. A research paper with a humanistic conclusion seems to make a bigger impact on the reader. Which I hardly need to tell you, can get it a better score.
A conclusion is one of the three most important parts of literature writing process; the other two being the introduction and the body. Just like when we meet an individual, we are first introduced to them, then we have a conversation with them. Lastly, before leaving we greet them goodbye. A person's impression will depend on the way in which they depart. If they give a hearty smile and say a pleasant "Nice to have met you", the impression will be an instant hit! That is just how the charm of a good conclusion works. This is where I sign off! Conclusion!!
