Bloody Mary Mix Recipes

The drink was first prepared in 1920 by an American bartender, Fernand Petiot, at Harry's New York Bar in Paris. Petiot mixed equal parts of tomato juice and vodka and made a world-famous cocktail concoction. The name Bloody Mary was suggested by a patron in the bar who was reminded of the Bucket of Blood Club in Chicago and a girl he knew named Mary at the very sight of the drink.

After Petiot moved to New York, not many patrons were impressed by its bland taste. So Petiot added some black pepper, cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lemon and a splash of Tabasco pepper sauce, thus inventing the spicy Bloody Mary mix. Bloody Mary Mix
Ingredients

  • 1 (46 fluid ounce) bottle tomato-vegetable juice cocktail
  • 1 lemons, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
Method of Preparation
In a large pitcher, add the juice cocktail, lemon juice and brown sugar. Add Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, hot sauce and celery salt as seasoning. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours. This will help the flavors to meld.

Wasabi Bloody Mary
Ingredients
  • cup fresh lime juice
  • 4 teaspoon wasabi
  • 6 cups low-salt tomato juice
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cups vodka
Method of Preparation
Lime juice and Wasabi should be combined with a whisk, till the Wasabi dissolves. Pour the mix into a pitcher and add tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, pepper sauce and salt. Keep in the refrigerator to chill. Stir in vodka and serve over ice. You can serve with a stalk of celery or pickled asparagus.

Hot and Spicy Bloody Mary Mix
Ingredients
  • 1 - 1/2 ounces cold inferno pepper pot vodka
  • 3 ounces spicy vegetable juice
  • teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 3 drops tabasco sauce
  • teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Cracked black pepper and celery salt to taste
  • Lime wedge
  • Celery stalk or green onion and pickled okra for garnishing
Method of Preparation
You need to mix vodka, sherry, juices, tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and celery salt together with ice. Now, strain the mixture into a glass over ice cubes. You can use celery stalk or green onions and pickled okra to garnish as desired.

Canning Bloody Mary Mix

Ingredients
  • 30 medium-sized tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and quartered
  • 2 cups green pepper chopped
  • 1 cups carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 - 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • cup parsley, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • cup sugar
  • cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • tablespoon Tabasco sauce (to taste)
Method of Preparation
You need to cook in a large pot the tomatoes, celery, carrots, onion, green peppers, garlic, bay leaf, and parsley until mushy. This will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes. Once done, remove the bay leaf from the mushy mixture. Add little by little the vegetable mixture into a blender and pure. With a spatula, press each pure batch through a fine sieve to remove any extra seeds. Add the sieved liquid in a large pot and add the sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and tabasco. If you find tablespoon Tabasco very mild, then you may add more now or even add it when mixing your drink. Heat this concoction to a boil. Pour the boiled concoction into clean quart jars and add prepared lids. Process in a boiling water canner for 40 minutes. Your canned Bloody Mary is ready.
