Luau Party Food
If you are thinking of throwing a theme party and cannot come up with an idea, try opting for a luau theme. Luau means a rich Hawaiian meal which features different types of well cooked meat, beer and Hawaiian music. Organizing a luau themed party gives a fresh appeal to the environment and to the guests as they get a much-needed change from the same old regular type of gatherings. The Hawaiian theme is a much preferred way to relax and enjoy time with your dear ones.
Luau Party Food Ideas
There is no need to fly down to Hawaii to enjoy a luau party experience. With adequate knowledge and food supplies, you can recreate the luau party atmosphere in your own home and have a night of never-ending fun. The beach T-shirts and shorts can be arranged but the party cannot be completed without authentic luau food. Here is the order in which luau food is served.
Appetizers or Snacks
Finger foods are the perfect pick for a luau party. To prevent huge stains and messes in the kitchen and dinning area, serve the guests with some lip-smacking appetizers like mini-kabobs (made from chunks of pineapple, ham and sweet pepper). Fill the tables with different fruit salads which can be consumed with appetizers. To have a distinctive Hawaiian environment, cut a melon of your choice in attractive shapes and decorate it with small fruits such as grapes and strawberries. For kids, keep bananas frozen and dip it in dark chocolate syrup to give the desired amount of sweetness.
Main Course
After some delicious appetizers comes the main course. Make chicken tenders which don't need to be deep-fried. Use skinless chicken and dip them in egg yolk and in Japanese bread crumbs known as 'Panko'. Bake them at 350F until cooked fully. The next dish is to boil shrimp and season them with salt and pepper. You can serve this shrimp with hot cocktail sauce. Poi is served as a dessert, its main ingredient is taro root but it can be made from vanilla pudding and purple food color.
Drinks and Cocktails
Serve your favorite cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages and for those who want to cut down on the calories, nutritional fruit smoothies can also be served. Don't forget the most popular beverage of Hawaii, coconut water. Just make sure to keep an eye on the cocktails so that the kids don't try to drink it.

To make it more natural, the host can also play some Hawaiian music or hire Hawaiian dancers if the party is being planned on a large-scale. Best of luck and do revert your experiences to me.
