Mopping and Sponging
Well, you cannot clean the walls using a vacuum cleaner. Hence, you would need a mop or a moist sponge to clean such surfaces. If there isn't a lot of dust, you might lightly dust them, otherwise, you would need a moist sponge. But before you do all this, just remember that after every use, you need to disinfect your mops and sponges. A good trick to do that is to put them in the microwave for a minute or running them through a dry cycle in a dish washer. Brushes are great for cleaning sinks and bathroom sanitary ware. - Laundry is one of the important chores amongst the daily ones. To have an organic and non-chemical laundry, do away with a chlorine based bleach. Instead use a non-chlorine bleach to do your laundry.
- For furniture and window cleaning or other glass surfaces, use microfiber cloths. They are good even without chemical cleaning products.
- To get rid of paint odors, especially when it is a new home, just keep small dishes of vinegar all over the room. Vinegar absorbs the paint odor and keeps the room fresh.
- To clean your fireplace, use a paste of cream of tartar and water to rub on the stains and smoke smudged spots. After the paste dries, scrub it off. If it is the inside of the fireplace, toss some salt in the fire whenever you enjoy the warmth of the fireplace next time. The burning salt will loosen the soot a little, making things a bit easier for you.
