Mint Herb Recipes


A variety of mint are available in the market but spearmint and peppermint are the two most commonly used ones. Mint herb recipes are the perfect way to make delicious homemade dessert or treat, with the particular fragrance and taste of mint. Mint also aids stomach and digestive problems, and finds a wide range of applications in human society.

Red Snapper Fillet With Fresh Mint Herbs
Ingredients:

  • cup mint, basil and cilantro, each properly stemmed and chopped
  • 1 cup sliced garlic cloves
  • 6 red snapper fillets of 1 pound each
  • salt and pepper
  • cup extra virgin olive oil
Slice each red snapper fillet on a cutting board in half lengthwise and leave two fillets attached at the tail. Score the skin and place the red snapper on a parchment lined sheet pan. Put the garlic cloves, mint, basil and cilantro in a bowl and stir the mixture. Spread this herb mixture on the red snapper fillets and drizzle them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and roast the fillets until the skin becomes crispy, which will take around 10 minutes. Take out the fillets from the oven and serve warm.

Pasta With Fresh Mint Herbs
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 1 lb. angel hair pasta
  • pinch of cayenne
  • tbsp. salt
  • cup Parmesan cheese
  • grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh mint, basil and chives herbs.
Combine cream, salt, nutmeg, butter and cayenne in a bowl, and simmer until sauce is slightly reduced and thickened. Whisk in Parmesan and the mixture of fresh herbs, and simmer for another 5 minutes. Put the mixture over hot pasta and serve immediately.

Mint Pesto With Lemon Zest
Ingredients:
  • teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  • cup flat-leaf parsley leaves
  • cup mint herbs
  • Salt
  • 2 thickly sliced scallions
  • 2 medium garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Mix the herbs, garlic, parsley, scallions and lemon zest in a food processor. Add the olive oil slowly to the mixture and process further until it becomes smooth. Season the pesto with salt and serve it with pasta. One can also mix it with soft and fresh goat cheese, and spread it on crostini. Grilled lamb chops, chicken, seafood or vegetables can also be served along with this pesto.

Mint Herbs with Agave
Ingredients:
  • cup agave, or more to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup fresh mint herbs
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Put agave, water, fresh mint herbs and lemon juice, in a high-speed blender and mix them properly. After straining the liquid present in the mixture, through a fine mesh sieve, pour the mint water into a shallow container and freeze. Keep on stirring the mint water every half an hour and repeat the process until it becomes evenly frozen. Scrape the frozen mixture with a fork and loose it into tiny ice granules. Put it in glasses or bowls and serve immediately.

Mint Herbs With Chicken Strips

Ingredients:
  • 1 spring of finely chopped onion
  • lemon juice (optional)
  • 3 chicken fillets, stripped of all fat
  • black pepper
  • 2 to 3 tbsp. chopped fresh mint
  • cup Greek natural yogurt
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
Put all the ingredients except chicken fillets, in a bowl, and mix them. Cut the chicken fillets into strips and put them into the mixture. Keep on stirring the mixture until the fillets get thoroughly coated, and cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Arrange the strips on a hot plate, on a preheated grill. Cook them for 3 to 4 minutes and serve hot.

There are many contemporary variations in the above mentioned recipes, however, the cool burst of minty flavor makes all of them delicious and lip smacking.
