Vampire Books for Kids
Vampires in school. Vampires in college. Vampires in the closet. Vampires in the movie theater. All I can hear, everywhere around me, wherever I go is, "OMG! Edward Cullen is such a babe!" or "Thank God Sookie ended up with Eric!" If you think you're lost, then you should have seen the look on my face, when my little cousin came up to me and announced, very matter-of-factly, that she was going to marry a vampire. Not just because they don't age, but also because, she thinks, they're the most intriguing creatures to have roamed the earth. And that they're a very highly misunderstood species. I thought to myself, don't vampires feed on human blood?? Needless to say, I was flabbergasted! But what I could not fathom is where did she get the thought? I just walked into her room and was stunned to see that her entire book shelf was filled with books about vampires! I mean I've heard of vampires being the new craze among kids, but the number of books was unbelievable! So I decided to search around for some vampire books for tweens and other kids in the same age group. Read ahead to know what I discovered.
Good Vampire Books for Kids
Now, most of you familiar with the whole vampire phenomenon probably already know that like the creatures, the books too come in packs (poor attempt at a joke, I know). So I've made a list of some of the novel series that kids read, and a separate list of other vampire books. First, I'll give you a list of the most popular vampire ones.
Twilight, Stephenie Meyer
Twilight is a series of four novels which revolve around the life of Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, who's, get this, 104 years old!! Phew! The series is written as a first person account of Bella. The trials and tribulations that she faces when she moves into a new town to live with her dad. Her school life and how she falls in love with a boy (ahem!) who's a vampire. The series progresses with a lot of drama, action and, of course, romance between the two and how they end up getting married and even have a baby! The books in this series are,
- Twilight
- New Moon
- Eclipse
- Breaking Dawn
This series is about a girl, Sookie Stackhouse, who has the ability to read minds. This telepathic ability may be weird for us, but not for her, because she is always in the company of vampires and fairies! Vampires are the only men Sookie seems to get attracted to, and she settles down with Eric Northman who is a vampire sheriff of the territory she lives in. Action, romance, drama, betrayal, greed, violence, this series has it all. The complete list of Sookie Stackhouse novels in order, is given below.
- Dead Until Dark
- Living Dead in Dallas
- Club Dead
- Dead to the World
- Dead as a Doornail
- Definitely Dead
- All Together Dead
- From Dead to Worse
- Dead and Gone
- Touch of Dead
This is another vampire series that kids are crazy about! It's about a young girl Zoey Redbird, and her stay and life as a Fledgling Vampyre at the House of Night, which is her boarding school. It revolves around her life and also gives a different insight into the world of vampires. This series has also been accredited a bestseller in New York for as long as 63 weeks! The books in this series are,
- Marked
- Betrayed
- Chosen
- Untamed
- Hunted
- Tempted
- Burned
- Awakened
Given below is a list of other vampire books or series that kids read or would definitely like to read.
