Whether you want to make your own bracelet, earrings, necklace or pendant, the list is limitless when it comes to making homemade jewelry. Before you learn how to make jewelry at home, you need to have all the necessary working supplies to get you started. These supplies can be bought from any craft store or hobby center and they are not too expensive. After you have your supplies, you can flick through a few fashion magazines to get an idea of the kind of designs and styles in jewelry that are in trend. It is always advisable to make a drawing of the jewelry you want to make, before executing it.
Homemade Jewelry Ideas
Here we are going to give you step by step jewelry making instructions for making some of the most beautiful handcrafted jewelry. Some of these homemade jewelry ideas are simple while others will require a bit of skill and practice.
Pearl Drop Earrings
Things required
- 2 oval pearls
- 2 silver beads
- 2 oval links of chain
- 2 French hooks
- 2 silver headpins
- Round nose crimping pliers
To know how to make jewelry, first slide a pearl on the wire pin and make a loop with the wire on top of the pearl so that the pearl does not slide out. Next, slide in a silver bead and make another loop on the wire to keep it in place. Slide the oval link chain onto this loop that you have just made and tighten it with the help of a round nose pliers. Again with the pliers, loosen the top portion of the oval link chain and slide in the French hook into it. Fasten and tighten the top of the oval link chain with the pliers. Your pearl drop earring is ready. Repeat the same procedure with the other headpin to get the matching earring piece. This piece of trendy beaded jewelry is sure to get you many compliments.
Pearl and Turquoise Bracelet
Things required
- 1 strand small turquoise beads
- 1 strand of small round pearls
- Flexible beading wire
- Headpins
- 1 toggle clasp
- 2 silver bead caps
- 2 crimp beads
First you need to tie a knot on one end of the flexible beading wire so that the beads don't come out while stringing them. Next cut this wire into the size of your wrist and slide a crimp bead into it. Slide the clasp loop into the wire after the crimp bead and then feed the wire back through the crimp bead. This will keep the clasp loop secure and it will keep it from moving. Next slide the turquoise bead into the flexible wire followed by the round pearl. Repeat this pattern until you come to the end of the wire. Add the toggle clasp followed by the crimp bead and secure it with a wire loop. Add a silver bead cap at both the ends of the bracelet for a polished look. Your homemade beaded jewelry is ready.
Multiple Strand Statement Necklace
Things required
- Flexible beading wire
- Multicolored beads, in different shapes and sizes
- 20 small 3-4 mm spacers
- 20 spacers, 3-4 millimeter in size
- 1 large toggle clasp
- 10 crimp beads
- Round nose crimping pliers
First cut the flexible beading wire into five equal pieces, keeping them 6 inches longer than the actual size you want. On one of the flexible wire, string beads of one single color and size, until the strand is within 3 inches of the finished length. On the other remaining wires, string similar beads in one single color and pattern. Make sure that all the strands are of equal length. Now on each strand of the necklace, string two 5 - 6-mm spacers followed by one 3-4-mm spacer, one crimp bead and another 3 - 4-mm spacer along with the clasp on each side. Finally crimp the crimp beads and trim any of the excess flexible beading wire. This was how to make beaded jewelry at home.
You can use some other materials like buttons, ribbons, paper, paper mache and feathers to make unique jewelry at home. Jewelry making is a lot of fun and you can make many beautiful pieces of unique jewelry once you practice this art.
