Unique Ideas for Handmade Invitations

The thing about anything handmade is that it adds to the sentimental value of the item. And handmade birthday invitations are the same. You feel like you've created something special for a special day that you've planned out. So, the emotional value attached to it by you, and by the person who receives it will be more than what they'll attach to a store-bought, fill-in-the-blank-spaces type of invite. Learn how to make birthday invitations easily and creatively with the ideas given below. They are some ideas to make your own invitations. Check them out and get creative.

Scroll
If you're planning a birthday party for your daughter and have a fairytale theme, then you need to do the birthday invitations in royal style too. You can have a scroll-style invite. Silk scrolls, fastened to thin bamboo twigs will look perfect. Have the wording embroidered onto the scroll in a bright color. Alternatively, you can opt for a paper scroll and ask someone who's good at calligraphy to write down the wording using a fountain pen.

Fan
Another creative birthday invitation idea is to make it in the form of a fan. For this, it's obvious that you have either an Oriental theme or at least a summer outdoor party. Take a light colored, rectangular paper, and draw a line around 1 inch above the smaller end of the page (bottom when vertical). Draw horizontal lines across the vertical paper and write down the invitation wording. Then, fold the paper alternatively on each line that you've drawn. The bottom empty space can be covered with a fancy paper and will be the handle. Open up the fan, and your wordings will be read out!

Space Ship
This idea can work for a little boy's birthday party, especially if the party theme is inter-galactic war or something on those lines (boys love sci-fi thrillers, don't they?). Take a piece of cardboard. Draw an outline of a spaceship. Use this as a stencil and draw a spaceship on some fancy gray paper according to the number of invites that you want. Then paint them with the necessary colors and designs so that they look like spaceships. Draw an alien in a window or something like that. Stick fresh white card paper on each cut-out. On the back of this spaceship, you write down the wordings.

Cupcake
Another creative idea to make party invites is cupcakes. Like the method used above, make a stencil of a cupcake. Only these invites will be in the form of a card. So you'll have to first fold the papers and then use the stencil to make them. After you're done with the cutting, paint each cupcake using different colors. Or if you prefer uniformity, you can have all of them in the same color. Inside the card comes your invitation wording.

There are many other ways of making some fabulous handmade birthday invitations. All you need is a bit of creativity, some patience and a little more time on your hands.
