Best-selling Cars of 2012
With so many cars in the market and so many criteria to consider, choosing the right car can be confusing. Moreover, there are other factors, like the budget, the driver-specific requirements that need to be considered, etc. Nobody wants to pick a car without considering all the relevant parameters and regret the choice later on. A car is a massive investment, not just in monetary terms, but also that it is a companion that is going stay with you for a long time (considering you take proper care of it, of course!).
The cars topping the sales charts are thus, by definition, the ones that fulfill most of the parameters for most of the customers. These are some of the cars that America adores. Without further ado, I'll get straight to the point by introducing you to the best-selling cars of the year.
Popular Cars This Season
FORD F-SERIES
This full-sized pickup truck is an ever-present in this list over the years, largely thanks to the F-150. You have a lot of options with the 2012 F-150, starting from the 2WD regular 6 ft. box cab, priced at $23,700, to the 4WD SuperCrew 5 ft. box Harley Davidson, priced at $52,000. Engines come in three variants, the basic 3.7-liter gas/ethanol V6, a 5-liter gas/ethanol V8 and a 6.2-liter gas-only V8. A legendary name in the automobile industry, this truck has been America's favorite since 1968.
CHEVROLET SILVERADO
Priced between $23,000 and $48,000, the Silverado from Chevrolet is one of the dependable and stronger trucks preferred by the Americans. There are 3 options of engines to choose from, the 4.3-liter gas V6 and the 4.8 and 5.3-liter gas/ethanol V8. There are also a variety of cab sizes to choose from. Reviewers have reported that while this isn't quite as good as its main competitors - the F-150 and the Ram 1500 - it is still a very capable machine.
TOYOTA CAMRY
Famous for its safety, reliability and fuel efficiency, this five-seat sedan has been a favorite since a long time. With ten air bags, traction control, ABS and tire pressure monitor, the safety aspect of this mid-sized car has also been taken care of. Toyota has redesigned the interior of this car, making it roomier in the back. Priced between $20,000 to $30,000, this car is, according to Road and Track, ideal for someone who just wants to go from point A to point B with minimum fuss.
HONDA CR-V
Honda is a global success and their cars are very popular all around the globe due to their build quality, reliability and economy. Car lovers say that Honda has maintained its quality and performance levels since a long time. This car is priced between $21,000 to $30,000. In spite of the lack of a much-desired punchline, this car has seen a lot of sales this year thanks to its family-friendly features and impressively safe build.
FORD FOCUS
The efficient Ford Focus has been popular ever since it was launched 12 years ago, and amidst ever-increasing competition, Ford have finally brought out a new one. With a complete revamp from the inside out, the new Focus looks and drives better than pretty much any of its rivals. It comes with a 2.0-liter gas I4 engine, with the range priced between $17,000 and $22,000.
NISSAN ALTIMA
Introduced in 2007, the IV generation Nissan Altima has charmed drivers all over. This beautifully styled Nissan is available in 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan, with gas I4 and V6 engines. The safety features like anti-disc brakes, airbags and the tire pressure monitoring system, to name a few, are probably the reason this car finds itself a place in this list. The company has also made certain improvements in the suspensions of the car. It is priced between $20,000 to $30,000. The Altima is also available in the hybrid market. Nissan have announced that the fifth generation Altima will be put into production in 2013.
In addition to the above, the hybrid Toyota Prius, the dependable Honda Civic, the Dodge Ram, the Chevrolet Malibu, etc., are also going quite well in 2012.
Make a thorough research about the car you want to buy. Always take a test ride before you buy one. Love your car, and most importantly, drive safe!
