Removing Black Hair Dye

The pigment in a black dye sticks hard to the hair strands and penetrates deep into the hair shaft. Hence, it is one of the most difficult colors to remove from the hair.

Steps
The first step is bleaching. This is a very long process in which there is an inherent risk of severe weakening of the hair. A 40 volume is prescribed to remove such an extremely dark color. As every layer of color is bleached away, the hair alters its color to different shades of red, orange and finally white. To minimize such a discoloration, the black color has to be removed equally. Mostly, bleaching has to be done more than once to obtain total white hair. The risk is that due to multiple bleaching, the hair are severely damaged and thinned. Most frequently, it happens that the black is not sufficiently lifted and the hair has an orange tone.

After bleaching, the second step is applying a toner. A toner will be useful to reduce the orange discoloration of the hair. This also is a conditioner of the hair and prevents further damage.

It may be kept in mind that bleaching peels away the outer layer of the hair and makes it fragile. The hair becomes stretchy and thin. If this process is carried out in an unprofessional manner, even combing the hair will result in hair loss.

Methods to Remove Black Hair Dye
A color remover can also be used to remove the dye from the hair. An orange color is obtained. Then, the hair can be re-dyed to another color. After these two processes, the hair will appear very fried. These color removers shrink the molecules of the hair dye that have penetrated into the hair. After these molecules become small enough, they are to be washed away. Then, the hair will return to the original color.

Adding highlights to the hair also helps. On the first try, the color will not be removed totally. Only the dye will be slightly lightened. After a gap of some weeks, another round of highlights are applied. It should be remembered to apply the highlight solution equally throughout the strand. The process must be closely watched. The bleach may occur fast on some parts than others. Sometimes it seems that it is difficult to have an even application by self-application. In this case, request somebody to apply the highlight. By this method, the wear and tear of the hair is considerably reduced.

Color fix and Color zap are products devised to remove hair color. Color fix removes undesired permanent hair color. A controlled usage is done for color correction in specific areas. These corrections may be full or slight color corrections. Color zap gently washes out all the permanent hair color. It is recommended for color correction, uneven results, removal of dark shades or color build up. It is possible to immediately re-color the hair after using Color zap.

Color stripper and peroxide can cause black to change to a darkish red. This can then be dyed to brown. Color stripper does not bleach the hair, but brings the hair close to the natural color. The development time ranges from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on the dyed color and conditions. The manufacturer's instructions should be followed during use.

Powder bleach and shampoo / conditioner are mixed with equal amounts of water. After mixing, a creamy consistency should be obtained. This mixture is applied evenly. It decelerates the bleaching process that strains the hair. The time for which the mixture is to be left on the hair is of course crucial issue.
