Mesotherapy to Replenish Hair Loss
All of us lose about 50 to 100 strands of hair everyday and there is nothing to worry about it. However, if the hair falls off at a very fast rate and is not replaced with new hair growth, then it becomes a cause for concern. This abnormal loss of hair is also referred to as alopecia. Today, a larger number of people are affected by it than before. It is not just older people losing hair due to aging, many young men and women are dealing with this too. The noticeable characteristics of thinning hair are a receding hairline and an appearance of bald patches in the middle of the scalp. If left untreated, it can lead to complete baldness. To prevent this and to regain their confidence, younger people in particular start looking for various options for hair loss treatment. Mesotherapy is one such technique that can provide a suitable solution to their problem.
How Does Mesotherapy Reduce Hair Loss?
Before discussing the procedure, let me explain how hair loss occurs. Hair loss is mainly triggered by change in the level of the dihydrotestosterone (or DHT) hormone. When the level of this hormone rises in the scalp, it blocks the normal supply of nutrients to the hair follicles to which it is attached. This weakens the hair roots which makes the hair fall off easily. Then the hormone also reduces the size of the hair follicles. As a result, shorter and thinner hair grow out of them. In the early stages, the new growth of hair cannot match the amount fallen, which results in thinning of hair, but later on, the hair may disappear completely from the affected part of the scalp.
Mesotherapy is a non surgical method of treatment to restore hair loss. During the procedure, a unique blend of medicines, natural extracts, vitamins and minerals are directly injected into the scalp. It restores the supply of all those nutritional components to the hair follicles that were robbed off due to the presence of DHT. These nutrients make the hair roots stronger and control hair fall. Moreover, it improves blood circulation in the area and increases the size of the hair follicle. These favorable conditions stimulate growth of new hair on the treated spot.
The Process of Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a safe and effective way to fight off almost all types of alopecia. It involves administration of a series of microinjections that contains a small dosage of active nutrients into various spots on the scalp. The medicated solution is pushed into the mesoderm, a layer of fat that lies below the scalp skin using a specialized gun which is fitted with a thin, small sterile needle. Even though the needle is inserted 2-3 mm deep into the scalp, no anesthetic is needed before applying the injection. This is a prolonged treatment that may continue for a few months to one year. It largely depends on the number of sessions that a person needs. Those who have a minor hair thinning problem may require 3-8 sessions while those with severe hair loss may need as many as ten sessions or more. The injections are given after a gap of one week or a month. The duration of every session is roughly around 30-45 minutes and in every session, the injection is given in a different part of the scalp.
Mesotherapy works only if it is performed in living cells and does not work on dead cells or on those areas where bald spots have already appeared. This treatment does not cure the actual hair loss problem. However, when the medicines enter the living cells of hair follicles, the actions of the DHT hormone is blocked so that the hair can regrow. The results of the treatment can be seen over a period of time. Some people take a longer time to respond towards the treatment. Usually, at the end of 4-5 sessions, the hair fall stops completely but no sign of growth of new hair is observed. New hair usually starts growing after the eighth session. One can see visible signs of replenishment of hair after six months or so.
One of the reasons behind the rising popularity of mesotherapy to replenish hair loss is that it is almost painless and is absolutely safe for both men and women. You will experience a slight pricking sensation at the time of the treatment. Later on, you may notice signs of minor bruising at the site but it will disappear after a week or so.
