Concealer Vs. Foundation

It is every woman's dream to get blemish free, even, pore-less and wrinkle free skin, similar to the models that feature in the pages of the fashion magazines, little realizing that these are unreal images created by using various computer software. Nevertheless, women being women, always want the best when it comes to their beauty and looks and hence aim for such skin by using the various cosmetics available to them. Foundation and concealer are two such beauty products, which if applied correctly, can help in hiding almost all the imperfections that might be there on a woman's facial skin. If you are thinking how to use both these wonder cosmetics to enhance the beauty of your skin or what is the difference between these two, then here is some useful information which you will find very handy.

Difference

The main difference between them is that while foundation is applied all over the face, a concealer is applied on the problem areas of the face such as on the blemishes, under the eyes, pimples or on the expression lines. Also, when it comes to consistency, concealer is much thicker and hence more noticeable than a foundation. Most of the concealers in the market come in small tubes or in lipstick form, while foundations come in a glass bottle or a large tube form.

Application

Many women wonder which should be applied first, concealer or foundation? It is recommended always to start with the foundation and then apply the former. Here is the step wise procedure to perform skin makeup.

Step 1
Before applying makeup, cleaning the face and the neck area and moisturizing it is very necessary. So, start by washing the face with a face wash and then apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. If you have oily skin, you can simply wash the face and refrain from applying a moisturizer.

Step 2
Apply foundation on the entire face i.e forehead, cheeks and chin and blend it nicely using your fingers, especially on the hair line and the jaw line. Next, apply on the nose, eyelids as well as the lips and then even them out too. When blending the foundation, start from the center of the face and then move your fingers outwards.

Step 3
After the foundation has been applied, apply the concealer on the blemishes, under the eyes and on the areas of skin that are slightly darker than others. Next, blend the concealer too. Remember when you are buying a concealer, it should be one shade lighter than the liquid foundation. Also, do not use more than the required quantity of concealer as it is very thick and can make your face look very made up.

Step 4
In the end, take some loose powder which is oil free and has a light texture and apply it on the face. This will help in setting the foundation and make it stay longer, throughout the day.

Both concealer and foundation are equally important to get the perfect look. The shade of the concealer depends upon the shade of the foundation, which should always be chosen according to one's natural skin color. Besides the right shade, the formula of the foundation should be selected wisely too. If you have oily skin, go in for a matte finish one and if you have dry skin, opt for the ones which come with a hydrating formula. So apply them on your skin to give yourself a complete makeover. Best of luck!
