How to Lace Skate Shoes
Skateboarding is considered to be an extreme sport, wherein you require a lot of physical energy and ability to perform amazing feats with the skateboard. Since the sport is a trifle harsh on your body, you are required to take certain necessary precautions so that you do not severely injure yourself. These precautions include wearing a helmet, elbow pads, having a well maintained and properly functioning skateboard and also skateboarding shoes.
It is understandable that most people ignore the fact that you require proper shoes while skateboarding. People assume that, it does not matter what shoes you wear, as long as you have all the other safety gear on you. It is not true. While performing various stunts you use your feet the most, so you need to have a proper pair of shoes. Before you learn this, make sure you have bought the right pair. A good way to select shoes is to get ones which have a good amount of padding around the ankle region.
Once you have bought the shoes, you will surely want to know cool ways to lace skate shoes. You can follow steps mentioned below with two laces and also with a single lace.
Straight Laces on Skate Shoes
Step 1
The first thing you need to do is to take the lace, insert it in the left bottom hole and pull it out from the right bottom hole. Ensure you have the same amount of lace on either side after it has been pulled out.
Step 2
Now, hold the lace on the right hand side, insert it in the second hole from bottom on the left hand side, and pull it out. You will now have to take the lace remaining out on the left hand side, insert it in the second from bottom hole on the right hand side, and pull it out. You should be able to notice an 'X' shape formation by the two laces in the center of the shoe.
Step 3
To tighten the laces, just use your index finger to pull up the 'X' formation from the center. This will help you get even laces on each side and also ensure you go about the task properly.
Step 4
Keep on repeating the above steps till you have completed all holes in the shoe. Do your second shoe in similar manner.
Double Laces on Skate Shoes
Step 1
To start with, you will have to take one lace and run it through both the bottom holes of your shoe. Now, rather than taking the right side lace and inserting it through the second hole from bottom on the left side and vice-versa, you should skip the immediate hole and go to the one after that. Keep on crossing your laces and run them through alternate holes till you reach the end of your shoe.
Step 2
Now, pick up the other lace you wish to have on your skate shoe. Start from the first set of available holes (in this case the second from bottom holes), and run your shoe lace through them. Continue crossing your lace and running it through alternate holes till you reach the end of your shoe, like you did for the first one.
Step 3
Once you have completed this pattern, you find four lace ends which are remaining to be tied. You can tie them any way you want. Either two lace ends of the same color together, or one each of both colors together, to form knots.
You should definitely try it yourself, it is simple and quick. Be innovative and invent cool ways of lacing skate shoes yourself. After all, the only thing that matters is your comfort.
