Homemade Wedding Gift Ideas
"We've got this gift of love, as precious as love itself. You can't just accept it and leave it, you feel the warmth and the feeling of care and concern, and that is something that matters the most.."
Wedding is a special day for the bride and groom, therefore, an ideal wedding gift for them would be something that adds to the fond memories that they will accumulate on this day for the rest of their lives. I agree that the gesture of presenting a gift, no matter what you give them, is always cherished. But ready-made gifts are no match in front of the homemade gifts that you materialize with lots of time and efforts, just to make the bride and groom feel exceptionally loved.
Creative Homemade Wedding Gift Ideas
To be really honest, I don't know what is it that the bride and groom will like the most! But there is one person who knows it... you! That's right! It's you who would know what is 'really special' for them. What is it that they like, what is it that will add to the specialty of this day. As you have decided to gift them something homemade, it becomes very important to start your research from now on. Your gift would also depend how close you are to the bride and groom. I am assuming you are close enough for that is what made you want to do something special for them by going out of your way. Mentioned below are some ideas that can help you plan the ideal special gesture that you plan to do for the newly wed couple.
Gift Baskets
One of the most cherished and personalized wedding gifts includes the homemade wedding gift baskets. If you are good at sewing a basket yourself, great! If not, you can get a ready-made basket and fill it with some of the favorite stuffs that the couple likes. This may include a bottle of their favorite wine beautifully wrapped with a ribbon, you can also make their favorite cookies and include them, CDs of their favorite music, some nice pictures of the couple, mothers may also include a recipe book with all their favorite recipes and family recipes, etc. The best thing about wish baskets is that they can be given by anyone, be it family, friends, colleagues, etc. Just fill it up with things that are handmade or personal to the bride and groom and you are good to go.
Picture Frames
This one is my favorite among all the homemade wedding gifts! All you need to do is to get a nice shadow box with some nice metallic paint or colors, whatever you think the couple would like. Place small things from the wedding including dry flowers, fabric, colorful confetti, pictures of the bride, and groom etc and assemble them together in a creative fashion. You can also include a note in the box and glue it in with the pictures and the other things surrounding the note. Also you can seal the shadow box forever or latch it. This is the best gift to give, especially if the reception is after a few hours of the wedding as you will get some time to make this amazing gift in the form of fond memories.
A Book of Memories
This is yet another thoughtful homemade wedding gift that can bring smiles on the faces of everyone who sees it. Mind you this one needs a lot of time and research on your part, and efforts to keep it a secret from the bride and groom. You can assemble their old childhood photos and also write some description along with it. Make it look like both the bride and the groom were looking for each other all this time, from childhood till they finally found each other and tied the knot.
Cross-stitched Wedding Theme Patterns
This makes one of the sweetest gifts of all times. It is unique and each and every part is made by you yourself. If you are a beginner, there are many kits available that can help you with this. You can start by knitting small stuff in a wedding theme like tea towels, napkins etc. If you think you have enough time to master the skill, a wedding theme crochet blanket, afghans and quilts with the wedding date and the name of the bride and groom with some nice floral theme around would be the perfect gift idea for the newly wed.
These ideas will work only if you have enough time in hand. You need to plan accordingly to make sure you are able to complete what you plan to start. The efforts will surely be cherished and treasured by everyone, especially the bride and the groom. All the best. :)
