How to Stretch Jeans
Help!! I can't fit into my jeans anymore. Aaaahhhh...
Has this every happened with you? Out of blue, maybe not out of the blue, but definitely unexpectedly, your jeans are too tight and won't even budge from your thighs. Or perhaps you just went through a growth spurt and the jeans don't fit you lengthwise. Isn't it frustrating when you learn you no longer fit into your favorite pair of jeans? Well, many a time, it's neither growth spurt or slight weight gain responsible for your too-tight-to-wear jeans. If you have recently done laundry and those jeans were in them, chances are that the tight jeans is the creation of your dryer. They tend to shrink in the dryer during tumbling and might pose as an issue while trying them on next. So... what now? You certainly can't throw them in the garbage, or use them for something other than wearing them. How about we help you stretch them out properly. Does that grab your attention? I thought so. Keep reading to find out how.
How to Stretch Jeans that Have Shrunk
There isn't just one but two ways you can try to stretch those jeans. The first method can be used when you know you've gained a little weight or you've increased couple of inches in height. As for the second method, this can be used when your jeans shrink after doing laundry.
Method 1
First, we gather the necessary items - 2 to 3 clean beach towels and your jeans. In this method, we will also require a bathtub half full with warm water. Wear your jeans, even if it is tight and the zip or the top button can't be secured.
Place the stopper in place and fill the bathtub with warm water. Meanwhile, lay the beach towels just outside your bathroom so that the carpet doesn't get wet. Once the bathtub is half filled with warm water, turn the water off.
Slowly and carefully, slide inside the bathtub with your jeans on. Yes, your jeans need to be worn for this method to work. Make sure the bathtub water doesn't spill out. The water should come till your waist; till where the jeans are worn.
Extend your legs in the tub and soak in the water for about 15 minutes or till the water turns cool. You might be a bit uncomfortable at this point, so bear with it. There's no need to move in the bathtub. Just try to relax as much as possible.
Slowly get up in the tub, release the drain stopper, and let the excess water flow. With your hands, try to squeeze out as much water as you can. Carefully get out of the tub and go stand over the beach towels. Here, we will do a few lunges; about 15 to 20.
As you do the lunges, the jeans will stretch from the waist, thighs, and lengthwise. Remove them and hang them on the bathroom curtain rod. After the jeans have dried completely, try them on. Hopefully, they have stretched enough for you to fit into them easily.
Method 2
In this second method, you don't have to go through so much trouble because the cause behind your tight jeans is the dryer. To begin, wear your jeans and try to pull it up as far as you can.
If you can, lie on the floor and try to wear zip and button the jeans. But if that fails, it's alright if the top button can't be done or the zip won't come up. Wear it till you feel it's comfortable.
With the jeans on, we will do some lunges and squats. Do 15 to 20 lunges and squats, taking about 20 second breaks between each exercise. This way, your jeans will stretch and it will be easier for you to pull them up.
The two methods mentioned in this article should help fit the jeans much better. If, and this is when you've tried and tested every possible tactics, you could use a blade to rip them. The ripped jeans look is definitely in these days and it will give you enough room to fit. Isn't that a neat trick!
