HTC Thunderbolt Release Date
Since the day it was announced, roughly around two months ago, HTC Thunderbolt has become one of the most popular topics for rumor mongers in the tech arena. In fact, rumors and speculations about it began surfacing well before it was officially announced at the Consumer Electronics Show on 6th January, 2011. Though the manufacturer refrained from divulging any details about its release date, rumors about the same flooded the tech arena soon after. While the initial rumors suggested that this smartphone will be made available in the month of February, more recent rumors hint at the fact that we won't be able to see it anytime before mid-March 2011.
HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon Wireless
The Thunderbolt boasts of being the first 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon Wireless - the second largest mobile telecommunications network in the United States (Basically, 4G LTE is the latest standard in the mobile network technology.). Armed with Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, the thunderbolt is a CDMA variant of HTC Desire HD. It sports a 4.3 inch WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen and has a powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU on board it. In terms of memory and storage, it boasts of 768MB RAM and 8GB flash memory, which can be expanded to 32GB. The phone has two cameras - 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 1.2 megapixel camera in front. All these features make Thunderbolt one of the most anticipated upcoming Verizon phones, and that explains why everyone is more than eager to know when it will be available.
Thunderbolt Release Date
Rumors about the release date and price of this HTC smartphone exist in plenty. Initially it was believed that the Thunderbolt will be released on 14th February. While that didn't actually happen, some sources said that it has been postponed to 21st February, and then again to 24th February - which again didn't really happen. Other than these three, several other dates were also in the fray, but every single date turned out to be a hoax call. That, however, hasn't helped much as people continue to speculate the release date/s of this device even today - the closest one being 28th February, 2011, - and that is also subject to change.
Yet another date which is rumored to mark the debut of Thunderbolt is 4th March, 2011. But again, the source which has suggested this date has (by mistake may be) suggested that it would be released on Thursday, 4th March, 2011. (However, the speculated day is actually Friday - and not Thursday, which again makes us look at it with suspicion.) So the chances are that even this might end up being another of those 'speculations' which is destined to end up as a hoax call.
Some sources have suggested that the release date of Thunderbolt has been postponed to make sure that it doesn't clash with the recently launched iPhone 4G which also happens to be on Verizon Wireless network. They further suggest that the Thunderbolt is all set to release on 10th March, 2011, - which is exactly after a month of Verizon iPhone release. More recently, all the attention surrounding HTC Thunderbolt 4G has shifted to a Facebook page created by 'Verizon Wireless' - allegedly, which suggests that the device is scheduled for a grand release on 21st March, 2011. This Facebook page also has all the Thunderbolt specs enlisted on it alongside the features which make it stand apart.
At the end of the day, 21st March, 2011, seems to be the date to watch out for as it will be well past a month of Verizon iPhone release and the service provider won't have to worry much about how it would affect the sales. At the same time though, one can't rule out the fact that this date is also subject to change considering that the manufacturer is yet to make any official announcement about the same.
