Craft Ideas for Teenage Girls
Summer vacations always start with a lot of anticipation, but within two to three days, teenagers get bored and look for avenues to pass their time. Teaching them arts and crafts is a good way to involve them and also enhance their creativity. There are many craft ideas for teenage girls that are low cost and which requires simple supplies. If you have a teenage daughter, then chances are that she would appreciate those crafts that are easy to make and which are useful to her. Homemade purses and totes, headbands and hair clips, wind chimes and decorative items are all such crafts that any teenage girl will enjoy making.
Easy Craft Ideas for Girls
Button Bracelet
Things required
- A few green and blue round buttons (in different sizes and colors)
- Crimping beads
- Flexible wire
- Needle nose pliers
- 2 end closures
- Blue oval beads
To make the button bracelet, first lay out the beads and buttons in front of you in the work table. Now measure the circumference of your wrist and cut the length of the flexible wire accordingly, adding two to three inches to the wire. With the help of the needle nose pliers, attach one of the closures to one end of the flexible wire. Next string a crimping bead and crimp it tightly with the pliers. String one green and one blue button, followed by three blue oval beads. Continue stringing buttons and beads in this way until you come to the end of the flexible wire. Attach one more crimping bead, followed by the closure. Your button bracelet is ready!
Decoupage Clipboard
Things required
- 1 clipboard (cardboard or metal)
- Candy wrappers
- Decoupage glue
- Pair of scissors
- 1 small paintbrush
Place the candy wrappers inside a heavy book for a few days so that the wrappers are crease free. Now clean the clipboard and sand it down lightly with a fine grit sandpaper if it is made of cardboard. Next apply a thin coat of decoupage glue over the clipboard and arrange the colorful candy wrapper over it. Make sure that some of the wrappers overlap each other so that it looks more interesting. After you are done covering the clipboard with candy wrappers, allow the clipboard to dry thoroughly. When the clipboard is dry, paint the clipboard with a thin coating of decoupage glue that has been diluted with water. Allow glue to dry before using the clipboard.
Potato Print Gift Tag
Things required
- 1 large potato
- Card paper
- Watercolor paint
- A shallow plate
- Ribbon
- A sharp knife
To make this craft for girls, first you need to clean the potato and cut it in half. Next draw an abstract or geometrical pattern on the fleshy part of the potato. Gouge out the pattern with a sharp utility knife. Make sure that the pattern is prominent and you have carved it in such a way that the cut off portion has a depth of at least th inches.
In the shallow plate mix a bit of watercolor paint with a bit of water. Make sure that the paint is not to runny or too thick. Next cut out a gift tag pattern on the card paper by using an old gift tag as a template. Dip the patterned side of the potato into the paint and then carefully place it over the gift tag that you have prepared. Press it firmly for a few seconds and lift the potato carefully from the tag. Allow the pattern to dry and then punch a hole at the top of the tag. Insert the narrow ribbon through the tag and your gift tag is complete.
Seashell Wind Chime
Things required
- 2 hardy sticks
- Cotton string
- Seashells (in varying shapes and sizes)
- Craft drill
To make the wind chime, first you need to clean the seashells thoroughly in water and then put them out to dry. Next drill a small hole on top of the shells. String a piece of cotton thread trough the holes on a seashell and tie it to one of the longer sticks. String some more shells in a similar fashion and tie it to both the long and the short string. Attach the shorter stick to the longer stick with the cotton thread. To make the wind chime more attractive, the seashells should be attached to the sticks at varying lengths. This is one of the best craft ideas for girls as they can use the seashell wind chime to decorate their room.
Making crafts is a lot of fun for young teenage girls and there are many fun craft ideas for teenage girls. Using basic craft supplies, girls can come up with innovative and creative craft ideas.
