They have a degree of protection provided under IP65, which is known to combat most conditions with high pressured water jets. Thus rain or other liquids can do it no damage. It also has a protective cover of IP56 which filters out, dust and other particles that may be afloat in the air. They are dust resistant and the fan inside does not let dust or ash collect inside.
TV Enclosure and its Benefits
These help prevent the LCD monitors or the plasma display crystals from getting damaged. Direct sunlight usually destroys these crystals and creates spots on the display image, which in turn damages the TV resolution. They have a cooling fan as well as a thermostatically activated heater that regulate the overall temperature within the TV enclosure. As and when the weather outside fluctuates, the thermostat automatically responds into action by cooling the TV when it gets too sunny and hot or by heating the enclosure when it gets too chilly outside. Though it is recommended not to keep the TV outside when it's snowing, as such weather conditions become to harsh for these TVs to handle.

How to Protect your TV
If in case you do not have such a TV and you still wish to place your set outdoors, then there are some important points to be kept in mind.
- Always place your TV in an area that has some shade, so that it is safely away from direct sunlight. Continuous sunlight will destroy your TVs internal display system of the LCD.
- Keep your TV set away from walls with windows and ventilators. Rainwater may seep into the TV or the moisture may instigate the growth of fungus or mold which will spoil your TV set.
- Keep your TV away from the house heater as the excessive heat will damage the internal wiring's and software.
