Sea Bass Nutrition
The term 'sea bass' does not refer to one, but multiple varieties of fish, which are native to subtropical and tropical waters. Common fish species which may be referred to as sea bass include barramundi, European sea bass, giant sea bass, suzuki (Japanese sea bass), white sea bass, Chilean sea bass, potato cod, and black sea bass. They belong to a family known as serranidae. Most of these are known to be popular in cooking and eating as seafood. The main physical characteristics of these fish include small scales and a large mouth. Also, these are carnivorous creatures, and can grow from a few inches to several feet. One interesting fact about the sea bass fish is that some of its varieties are known to alter sex. For instance, all black sea bass are born as females. However, they undergo a sex change and turn into males, between ages 2-5.
