Creative Homemade Gifts

Gifts can be made for your parents, boyfriend, girlfriend, your cousins, friends, etc. They will simply love these gifts as they are specially made by you. Here are some creative gift ideas.

For Mom

You can knit pouches, purses, bags or mobile covers in her favorite color. Stitch cotton bags and paint on them. You can also do hand embroidery on the bags. Make table mats by painting on cut plastic sheets. Make tea coasters from paper mache. And gift these creatively made articles to your mom; she love them! Write a poem for her and post it on the refrigerator, so the next time, she goes near the fridge, she will read it. Decorate earthen pots with beads and sequins and acrylic paints and gift them to her. Buy movie tickets for her and her friends and send her out, till the time she is out, prepare dinner and set the table for her. Let her feel surprised with what she gets after she's home. Make an apron for her with something painted or written on it.

For Dad

Even if you think that these gifts won't turn out well, your father will treasure them for the rest of his life...because you have made them yourself. Make pen stands, out of paper mache. You can also make envelopes that daddy might need. Most of us write letters to our boyfriend or girlfriend. This time, write a letter to your dad and tell him how much you love him, write down your feelings saying that you are what you are just because of his love, grace, and his presence, whenever you needed it. Make a key stand from ceramic and place it on his office desk. If you have coconut shells left, decorate them and make an ashtray out of them. Make a cartoon strip of some stupid fights that you had in the past and apologize him through them. Decorate a box that is minimum 4 inches long and turn it into a spectacle case. Make a nice, colorful book mark.

For Grandparents

I remember my grandmother showing me black and white photos of her childhood, her marriage, and some other occasions. Do the same for her. Get a bunch of photos clicked with you and your grandparents. Now print them in black and white and paste them in an album made by you which has black pages. Draw golden borders around all the photos to make the album look antique. Make a gardening calendar and personalize it by writing in the corners, something about what you feel for them. Buy a glass jar and two glasses, and paint them with glass colors. Keep it besides their bed. Make sure that the jar is always filled with water so they don't have to get up every time. Stitch a nice warm blanket for them. If you grandmother has a few old dresses that are not wearable, cut them into pieces, of course with her permission (but don't' let her know what you're up to), and join it with other pieces of cloth too to make her a nice blanket. Knit a shawl for them to keep the winters away. Decorate small boxes that can be used to keep their medicines. Make photo frames with the family picture in it and gift it to them. Make a book stand by making partitions in a big box. Decorate this stand with lovely paints and crafts. Bake a cake on their anniversary. As most of the grandparents love gardening, they will love this gift for sure...make a bouquet of flowers that they have grown, or salad from the fresh grown squashes, cucumbers, salad leaves, etc. and prepare dinner for them.

For Girlfriend

Boys, you really have to do some of this just to see your girlfriend's reaction, you might feel girly while making these gifts, but trust me, it's worth the girlishness. Paint a cute cartoon on a t-shirt, she'll love it. First she won't really believe that it's done by you, but be ready for the loud reaction! Make a lip balm with 'your' favorite flavor or learn how to make a homemade lip gloss. Make a jewelry box and put small folded chits in them with the name of few accessories and ask her to pick 3 of them. Let her unfold them and buy her whatever the chits say. Buy around 10 hair rubber bands, pins, hair clips, and put them in a cane basket and gift the basket to her. Well, I hope you enjoy making these gifts for girlfriend. You can also make earrings, necklaces and bracelets from beads; she'll go crazy imagining you making them!

For Boyfriend

If you are good at knitting, a nice warm fuzzy sweater will be just a perfect gift for him. After the sweater is done, you can spray some perfume that you use everyday so that the sweater has your scent. If you have small boxes in which pens can fit, decorate these boxes with your boyfriend's name written in tiny fonts in different colors. Fill all the sides of the boxes with his name written on it. Paint a t-shirt with his favorite quotes, or phrases. Write a CD for him, and include songs that represent your relationship. A month before his birthday, make 30 tiny cards with cute lines written on them and give them to him everyday till 'the day'. Make sure that there is some link between the lines written on the cards. Prepare breakfast for him and take it to his place early in the morning. Buy him 4 to 5 t-shirts, roll each of them, place them in a paper mache basket and gift it. Buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it in a full moonlit sky. Don't throw away the bottle, instead make a good use of it. Write love quotes on a piece of paper, roll this paper and put it in the cleaned bottle and gift him the bottle. Make scented candles, and carve his name on them.

For Husband

Gift him a nice romantic dinner. Bake him his favorite cake. Make a personalized calendar with special events highlighted such as your marriage anniversary, his and your birthday, the engagement day, the day he proposed you, etc. Decorate a photo frame and gift it with the picture of both of you. These make some personalized gifts for him. You can also use some of the gift ideas for boyfriend as creative homemade gift ideas for husband.
