Google Nexus Prime Rumors

Dubbed as the iPhone killer, the Google Nexus Prime is to be launched soon. It is rumored to release this fall. That would be October or November of the year 2011. This is around the same time that iPhone 5 is being predicted to be launched. Everyone has their hopes high with much anticipation about which phone will run on Android 2.4/4.0, the Ice Cream Sandwich. Also referred to as the Nexus 3, Google Nexus Prime is rumored to be completely software based. While Google Nexus One was launched with HTC, the Nexus Prime will be brought to you by Samsung, its Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

Rumored Nexus Prime Specs

  • 4.5" Super-Amoled HD Display
  • 1280 X 720p resolution
  • 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor (OMAP4470 or OMAP4460)
  • 4G LTE Radio ready
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 1080 HD Video
  • Dual Camera - 1 MP and 5 MP
  • No pre-loads from carriers
The above rumored Nexus Prime specs mentions the likelihood of the Android-run smartphone to carry either of the two Texas Instruments OMAP4 processors; OMAP4470 or OMAP4460. While the latter happens to be slightly slower than its sibling, it looks like Nexus Prime may probably make OMAP4470 its lead platform for the Ice Cream Sandwich as it can be as much as 20% faster than OMAP4460. This means that all devices running on Android 4.0 shall, henceforth, be based on this hardware engineering on a clocked PowerVR SGX540 GPU. Thus, this OMAP4 powered Samsung device is expected to follow the footsteps of its predecessor and exhibit a spectacular and elegant quality phone that you'd be proud to own. If rumors are to be further believed and observing the latest updates on the project, the Nexus Prime will operate on Linux 3.0 Kernel for its soon to be launched Android 2.4/4.0. With a fast HSPA+ modem, your download speed could be as high as 42 Mbps. This new generation beast will not just become another milestone in the history of smartphones, but it may become a real-time threat to iPhone 5's expected market share.

From the rumors surrounding the Nexus Prime specs, all I can say is that you can expect Google to deliver a sleek, fast and efficient phone. Would it be too soon if I say, Google has seriously outdone the standards set by its previous pice de rsistance? Seems like Nexus Prime is all set to rival the much-anticipated iPhone 5. Leave room for doubt for the Super Amoled display to be either 4.5" or 4.65", since Nexus Prime specs have not been officially announced by the company. But, it will still make your screen bright and vibrant with colors with sharper text displayed. The size of the display will predictably be bigger than that of its Apple rival. The front facing 1 MP gives a better image quality for video chats and an improvised sensor for the back camera will help click better quality pictures even in low light. The 4G connectivity provides high-speed Internet connection to down an array of apps using a 1 GB RAM space.

Google Nexus Prime and the Market

The Nexus Prime Specs are so mind-blowing and they all come in an ultra-thin build that will be super handy unlike other smartphones and tablets that are bulky, huge and difficult to carry around. I can't think of any needs that Nexus Prime specs would not be able to meet! Let's hope that this Google-Samsung alliance, Nexus Prime, also fares well on other fronts such as touchscreen sensitivity, LED notification battery life, the phone's design and exterior feel, if you know what I am hinting at (read, Samsung Nexus S 4G)! If Apple fails to meet the hype for their new gadget, expect Nexus Prime to overshadow iPhone 5's next successor too! Nokia is also planning to launch its first ever Windows-based phone. With the Nexus Prime release date coming closer, the competition has really heated up between the major players in the mobile phone manufacturing industry.

The Nexus Prime will probably not have any restrictions on being used as a hotspot. This means that you would not have to pay extra to use this feature of the phone, unlike iPhone. This will give a serious competition to iPhone 5 and a great edge to the Nexus Prime specs. You know the Google Nexus One was available only through T-Mobile. But, as mentioned previously, the Nexus Prime release date will most likely be around Thanksgiving and it will be available through your carrier since Google will be operating with more than one carrier this time, like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint along with T-Mobile. We couldn't thank Google enough for this amazing gadget!
