Everyday Makeup Routine
Makeup has become so much a part of our lives that we cannot imagine a day without basic makeup. Most of us rarely step out of our homes without an eyeliner and a lip balm, even if it's just a trip to supermarket around the corner. A look without makeup makes us feel unpolished and gauche. If you are a working woman, you sure know the importance of looking well-groomed and sophisticated at the workplace. A makeup comes in handy to give you that much-needed 'professional' look. Thus, your everyday makeup routine should include the essentials of looking groomed.
What Should be Your Everyday Makeup Routine
Cleansing
A fresh face is the basic requirement for any kind of makeup. So begin your day by using a good quality cleanser to remove makeup, dirt and bacteria from your face. Take a small quantity of cleanser on a cotton ball and move it in circular motions on your face. Rinse it off with cold water afterwards (cold water helps to close pores, so that your makeup doesn't enter your skin). Pat dry your face with a clean towel.
Moisturizing
A good quality moisturizer is a must to keep your skin soft and hydrated throughout the day. Moisturizer also creates a barrier between your skin and makeup, thereby protecting it from harsh makeup ingredients. A moisturizer with an SPF over 15 can be your best bet during summer. If you have a fairly even skin or if you do not intend to use foundation, use a tinting moisturizer that can cover up light blemishes. An oil based moisturizer is best for people with dry skin and during months of winter. Whereas, people with oily, acne prone skin should go for water based moisturizers.
Concealing
You may skip this step if you have even, flawless skin. However, most women need cover up of some kind to get rid of blemishes on the face. If you have only slight unevenness in your skin tone, take a part of concealer and a part of moisturizer and apply it evenly all over your face. Larger blemishes can be covered with a base foundation. Concealer should be used to cover dark circles under eyes and puffy eye bags. A cream based concealer is best as it does not accumulate in the creases of the eyes. You may highlight your cheekbones with a rosy or peach cream blush.
Eye Defining
Eyes are your best features, hence do not forget to accentuate your eyes with an eye definition pencil. A black mascara gives your eyes the requisite amount of definition. Usually, you do not need an eyeshadow for everyday eye makeup, as everyday makeup looks subdued than party makeup. Yet, if you insist, you may go for neutral shades of eyeshadow such as pink, beige, coral etc. Avoid use of funky colors like fuchsia, lime green, purple for eyeliner and eyeshadow.
Lip Color
Simply applying a lipstick gives you the desired groomed look. It is of utmost importance to make your lips look healthy and plump. You may apply a lip balm for a more casual look or you may go for high shine lip gloss for a more glamorous look. It is best to avoid lipstick whenever you can as the lipstick ingredients may cause damage to your lips in the long run. A lip balm or lip gloss are perfect for everyday makeup.
