Dipping Oil Recipes


You will find dipping oil served in Italian restaurants. One is used to having jam, sauce, butter or some other type of dip with breads, but it is the Italian restaurants that serve dipping oil with their special breads! Dipping oil is also served with French bread at times. Various flavors are available in dipping oil which are kept in mind the flavor of the bread. Besides bread, dipping oil can also used for marinating chicken or drizzling on salads. The following are some easy dipping oil recipes.

Dipping Oil for Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/8 tsp finely minced garlic
  • tsp sun-dried tomato paste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1/8 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 pinch salt (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1/8 tsp dried basil
  • cup olive oil
Process

Firstly transfer the olive oil to a bowl and add in sun dried tomato paste to it. Crush thyme, basil and rosemary with your fingers, add them to the olive oil mixture along with salt, garlic and pepper. Now add in the spices and mix well. Let the dipping stand for 4 hours so that the flavors blend. You can add in crushed red pepper if you like it spicy. Serve with French or sourdough bread.

Garlic Dipping Oil

Ingredients
  • 2 tsp minced fresh rosemary
  • 25 garlic cloves (unpeeled)
  • 2 tbs plus 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • cup balsamic vinegar
Process

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Now place the garlic cloves in a baking dish, add 2 tbs olive oil to it, season with salt and pepper; toss to coat from all sides. Cover this dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven until tender and brown, for about 45 minutes. Let cool. Squeeze garlic between fingertips after it has cooled completely. Place the gloves to a blender bowl, add rosemary and vinegar to it and blend until smooth. Now add in the remaining olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper and blend for added 1 minute. Refrigerate for storage. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

Italian Herb Dipping Oil

Ingredients
  • tsp oregano
  • tsp basil
  • Olive oil
  • tsp garlic powder
  • tsp rosemary
  • tsp marjoram
  • tsp thyme
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
Process

This is one of the easiest dipping oil recipes. All you have to do is, take a small bowl and add all the herbs in it. Mix well and then add desired quantity of olive oil for desired flavor, add the red pepper flakes and mix until incorporated. Serve with crusty Italian bread.

French Bread Dipping Oil

Ingredients
  • 2 tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove minced in tiny pieces
  • 1 (16 ounce) uncut French bread loaf
  • 3 tbs freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • tsp freshly ground pepper
  • cup extra virgin olive oil
  • tsp salt
  • tsp dried Italian seasoning
Process

Take a shallow bowl and add minced garlic clove, ground pepper, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning and salt to it. Mix well and then sprinkle vinegar and olive oil evenly over the mixture, stir and set aside. Place the loaf of uncut French bread on the lower rack of the oven and bake for about 15 minutes at 350F or until warm. When done, cut the bread into 1 inch slices and serve with the dipping oil. This is one of the healthy dipping oil recipes.
