Custom Embroidery Designs

Come the festive season, and everyone is a quandary what to gift to people they hold close to their hearts. The gift needs to be special, so that everyone who sees it must ask the owner where he or she got it from, and also the gift needs to have a personal touch. Lately, one such personalized gift item has begun fitting the bill perfectly, and that is apparel with custom embroidery designs.

These make for very good personalized gifts because they are both creative and intimate. Embroidery has always existed in the world, and all of us have worn some kind of embroidery or the other. But it is only lately that embroidery is making such an impact. It is the digital phenomenon that has make the art of embroidery a much more perfect art, and also created a scope to incorporate versatile artworks into the realms of the art. Today, any kind of motif can be embroidered, and converted into a fashion statement.

Embroidery has made its presence felt almost everywhere. You can find youngsters wearing scarves, bandannas and beanie caps with embroidered motifs, while women everywhere are flaunting purses and handbags with embroidered designs. Some companies have gone as ahead as including their embroidered logos on the T-shirts they give to their employees.

That is the reason why embroidered clothing could be a great gift to give this year. Embroidery is a very special art, and not many people are good at it. But, you will be able to find some good embroidery artisans online who take orders for making personalized gifts for people on your gift list. Here is how you go about it.

Selecting the Design
You are free to select any design you want, but you should have the foresight to decide whether or not the design will look good on the surface it will be embroidered. It is also not good to select designs that have too much detailing and colors, because threadwork cannot do the same kind of justice that print work can.

Selecting the Text Font
No embroidery design is considered complete without some message attached with it. You have to select what message you want to keep. Or you can simply get the name of the person embroidered. Every custom embroidery service has their own stock of fonts from which you can select. Or, if you have a particular font in mind, you can select it too.

Choosing Colors
Colors are chosen from a catalog of thread colors. If you already have some color in mind, then you have to choose the appropriate thread colors from a catalog. If you are sending the colors through a computer artwork, then the embroiders will choose the nearest possible thread color matching with the Pantone color of the artwork.

Converting the Design to a Form Suitable for Embroidering
With the design and the personalized text message ready, you are required to send the whole artwork to the custom embroidery people. This artwork can be sent by an email in a jpeg format. The embroiderers will convert the artwork into a form that is compatible with the thread weaves the embroidery machine is going to use. This process is known as digitizing. After digitizing, the thread weaves that can bring the design to a format compatible with embroidery is obtained. At this stage, the embroiderers might suggest a few changes to make the design possible and feasible.

Making the Design
When all the selection and approval process is done, the embroiderers will settle down to actually laying out the embroidered designs on the clothing. Machines controlled by computers do the actual embroidering process. That makes the embroidery much more perfect, though not as articulate as that done by hand. Also, once the embroidery is laid out, it is final because it is difficult to remove embroidery without spoiling the garment. That is why the approval process takes much longer time than the actual embroidery process.

So, this year you can plan to gift custom embroidered shirts or any other piece of clothing to everyone on your list. Make sure to personalize these gifts in order to emphasize to people how much they mean to you.
