How to Make a Duct Tape Wallet
There are many arts and crafts one can make using duct tape, such as duct tape dresses, hats, pencil case, book cover, bags, etc. Another easy and fun to make craft using duct tape is the duct tape wallet. You can make a simple wallet within minutes using duct tape and a pocket knife. When duct tape is handled properly you can make a neat duct tape wallet, and add some pockets to the wallet as well.
Simple Duct Tape Wallet?
There are different colors in duct tape available, so choose the duct tape(s) properly. If you want to learn how to make a wallet out of duct tape which is unicolored, then go for one duct tape roll, if you want to give it a striped colored appearance then take two or more colors of duct tape rolls. Gather the things you will need, which include a ruler, pocket knife and duct tape, and follow these instructions.
- Cut out a strip of duct tape which is 10 inches in length. Whenever cutting any strips from duct tape, lay the sticky side of duct tape on a plastic board surface, then measure the length and trim out the strip.
- Now take out the strip and lay the sticky face up, and cut another strip of 10 inches and hold it horizontally and stick it to the bottom edge of other strip, keeping all the sticky sides up. This way add 2 more strips.
- Now you will have a rectangle formed with 4 strips of 10 inches. In similar manner make another rectangle, and stick these two rectangles together.
- Fold the new rectangle in the middle, forming a good crease. To stick the outer smaller edges of the rectangle, cut a strip which is the length of the side of the rectangle, and stick it to the sides on the right side of the wallet, and repeat for the left side. Keep trimming out the excess duct tape with the pocket knife. This way you have a basic wallet. Below are the instructions on making a duct tape wallet with ID holder.
Follow these instructions of duct tape projects to make pockets to keep your ID cards.
- The first step for how to make a wallet out of duct tape with pockets is to make a rectangle of size 10 inch by 3.5 inch strips, with duct tape on both sides.
- Cut both in half, and trim out the edges.
- Fold the small rectangles in a way that the back 0.5 inches are longer than the front which should be kept 1.5 inches. Repeat this step for both the 2 cut out rectangles.
- Form two pockets and overlap them, so that the back of one lies on top of the front of the other piece. Crease them well, and stick them with a duct tape strip which folds over both sides. Trim out the edges again.
- Put them on the left side of the wallet, and note down the length of the pockets, to stick them along the right of the bottom and maintain 0.6 cm from the side.
- Then trim out the excess of the pockets to the above measurements and take a piece of duct tape around 10 inches and stick it half at the bottom on outer pocket size, and half at the bottom of the pocket, trim out the excess. Now, measure the sides of the pockets and use a thin strip of duct tape to stick and secure the sides of the pocket.
