Finger Foods for Kids' Parties

You can't stop thinking about it. Nate's celebrating his 7th birthday and you'll be inviting all his friends over, yes? Oh but the kids, they'll be running about. All over the place. Your prized vase comes into the picture, you imagine it crashing to the floor and breaking into a thousand little pieces. Bad thought. Vanish. Disappear. And then a brilliant thought comes rushing through - good food and entrainment! That is all you need and the kids they'll be rooted to one place, no moving about here and there and definitely no destroying of vases happening. Awesome thought. Where did it come from? Being a mom. That's where that came from. Stopping destruction of any kind in its path has gotten to be your forte. But that later. For now how about some finger foods that you can dole out real easy and fast and promise a whole batch of really happy kids? Getting to that then.

Easy Finger Foods

Finger foods. Why? You really want to hand over forks and spoons and toothpicks to the kids, do you? I thought so. So now that we know why we are opting for finger foods, let's get to some of the best choices, ladies.

Chicken Sandwich
Always yummy and never a doubt of why this is one of the favorites when it comes to finger foods. But don't be boring when you make a chicken sandwich. Ditch the old style and spruce it up into something that the kids can't resist. What are we offering?

  1. Take a roll of wheat and cut it in the center
  2. Separate the sides and stuff it with grated chicken, cooked with rosemary and peppers and mayo sauce.
  3. Garnish with lettuce leaves, olives and cucumber pieces.
  4. Make it colorful and it'll be a hit.
Crackers and Cheese
What's new about this recipe? The way you use the ingredients, that's what is. What you do is this:
  1. Take any regular crackers and then bake them in the oven till they've become hot.
  2. Then use slices of cheese and spread over the crackers while both are hot.
  3. The cheese will stick on.
  4. Spruce it up with chilly flakes and oregano powder.
French Fries
No denying the fact that this is one of the most popular finger foods. But here's a way in which you can make it even more interesting. After all it is one of those finger foods that has most potential.
  1. Cut the potatoes into long rolls (as in the original shape of fries)
  2. Shallow or deep-fry these.
  3. Add flavor by dipping in salt and then in chili powder (go easy if you're not sure about the same) You can even use pepper powder for the same.
  4. The different and unique flavors that all these spices combined lead to is something that takes the dish from simple to awesome.
Egg Toast
Something really healthy and tasty? So here's what you do:
  1. Take regular toasted bread.
  2. Boil eggs and then using an egg cutter, cut the boiled egg into neat pieces.
  3. Carefully arrange the egg pieces onto the toast and then garnish with ketchup.
Buttered Slices
This is sinfully yummy. I know cause it's one of the simplest, easiest and yet one hell of the yummiest dishes to get hooked onto. Here's what you do to put this easy dish onto the table:
  1. Take regular slices of bread.
  2. Use a pan and heat till hot.
  3. Pour a block of butter or refined oil in it.
  4. When the butter starts sizzling, pour in some oregano powder, chilly flakes and cheese (personal preference).
  5. Spread this over the pan and then put in the slice of bread and rub it in so that the remnants of the pan are stuck to the bread.
  6. And that's all there is to it. Serve with tomato ketchup for added flavors.
Choices, choices, choices. So many choices there are and so little time? These won't take any time to prepare, so there's nothing to fret about. You can comfortably tap most of these dishes and go on to make a roaring success of that party. Your kid will love you for it, heck, his friends will too.
