Mayonnaise Hair Treatment
This treatment should only be used on dry hair which has been damaged due to overexposure to sun, wind, hot styling products, etc. If your scalp is naturally oily, applying mayonnaise to the roots will only aggravate it. Always seek advise from an experienced hairstylist.
When you wish to care for your hair, nothing works effectively than natural ingredients. Commercial products that include olive oil, mayonnaise, and/or eggs in their ingredients, have become a popular trend. But why pay hundreds of dollars on commercial products? Instead, you can try the mayonnaise hair treatment without having to spend a lot. This treatment has the ability to deep condition dry, flaky hair and heal breakage. It is inexpensive and helps keep your hair soft, shiny, and strong. Plus, making the mixture is really easy and takes only a couple of minutes. Here's how you do it.
Olive Oil and Mayonnaise
Use this treatment for damaged hair as it works wonders on frizzy, dry hair.
- In a bowl, pour at least a jar of mayonnaise.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and mix the ingredients properly.
- Break an egg yolk in the bowl and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. (If you're a blonde, use lemon juice. If you're a brunette or redhead, use apple cider instead).
- Whisk everything together and apply over freshly-washed damp hair.
- Wear a shower cap for about hour and then thoroughly wash your hair with cold water.
Avocado and Mayonnaise
Use this treatment when your hair feel frizzy or crunchy to touch (after swimming or being out in the sun).
- In a bowl, scoop ripe avocado and mash it with a fork.
- Add 1 cup mayonnaise in the bowl and mix the ingredients properly.
- Apply the mixture directly over the hair and concentrate more on the split ends and dry area.
- Place a shower cap or plastic wrap over your head and let the mixture condition for about hour.
- Now rinse your hair under cool water and get the mixture out properly. When you touch your hair, you will feel that it's really soft and smooth.
Egg and Mayonnaise
Use this treatment as a moisturizing and conditioning agent for your hair.
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup of mayonnaise (room temperature), and 3 egg yolks.
- Apply it thoroughly in your hair, near the roots, and the ends.
- Wear a shower cap or warm towel over your head. Leave it on for about 20 minutes.
- Rinse your hair properly with cold water (you don't want the egg yolks to scramble).
- Don't shampoo afterwards, just thoroughly rinse your hair. Shampoo the next day.
Almond Oil, Vinegar, and Mayonnaise
Use this treatment if you have lice in your hair; it helps in suffocating them.
- Apply 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise to your hair. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, the quantity may vary.
- Place a shower cap or plastic wrap to cover your head and hair. Make sure the wrap is tight around your head, as it will help in suffocating the lice.
- Leave the solution in for at least 2 to 3 hours. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water.
- Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner to remove all traces of mayonnaise.
- Apply a mixture of almond oil and vinegar to your hair. Rinse hair again.
- Remove the lice eggs from your hair with a nit comb. Now your hair is free from lice.
Mayonnaise helps condition, moisturize, and rejuvenate dry hair, and promotes re-growth of damaged hair as well. Nourish your hair with these wonderful and effective hair treatments from the comfort of your own home.
