How to Make a Pocket Protector

Making a pocket protector is extremely easy and you can carry this out with household materials. You can make the cover with the help of a file folder or with a stiff piece of fabric or clothing. Frame the design in your mind and then start making it.

  • While making the body with a file cover, you will require a duct tape. The cover needs to be stitched with a needle if you are using fabric. Keep a scissor and ruler handy, for taking measurements.
  • Measure the size of the pocket and then cut the pieces for assembling the protector. The front piece will be a little smaller than the back cover. For example, if you take the measurement of 2 inches x 5 inches for the front, then the back side will be 2 inches x 7 inches.
  • You have to cut another rectangular piece for making the front flap of the cover that will be comparatively smaller than the front as well as the back cover. Say, take the measurement 2 inches x 4 inches.
  • Lay the back cover on the surface, and fix the front portion over it. Attach the sides of the pocket cover with the duct tape and leave the mouth open. This completes the structure of the holding pouch.
  • Now you need to attach the flap to the protector so that it remains secured to your pocket. Fold the flap so that at least one inches cling from the front of the pouch. You can affix this in the same way with the help of the duct tape.
  • The overall process of assembling a pocket protector is the same even if you are stitching it. Sew the sides of the fabric pieces for making the cover. Then attach the flap in the same way from the top edge of the protector by sewing it properly.
