Makeup Tips for Acne Prone Skin
One of the main reasons for chronic acne lies in using inappropriate and/or low quality cosmetics. Many women tend to apply lots of makeup to conceal the acne on the face but this excessive use of makeup again causes more acne breakouts. And hence, it is essential to break this vicious cycle before your face starts looking like a custard apple.
Using right cosmetics for makeup is not the only solution to prevent acne. You must have to let your skin heal and get rid of the acne completely. After all makeup just hides your acne, scars, and blemishes and it should be used to enhance your natural beauty and hence, it cannot be used as a remedy to treat acne prone skin. That is why I would tell you about some of the basic beauty tips that would help you control the acne.

- Drinking at least seven to eight glasses of water a day helps you flush out the toxins from your body which helps in reducing the acne.
- A smooth digestive system is important to keep the skin glowing and hence, eating fresh fibrous foods is very essential to keep the stomach clean.
- Regular exercise, say at least 30 minutes a day, is very important as it increases the blood circulation by providing blood and oxygen to all the nerves and vessels in the body, including face.
- If an acne prone skin is accompanied by oily skin, it is advisable to wash your face at least thrice a day as it can help remove the dirt and build up from the face which prevents the skin from getting clogged.
- Skin prone to acne also needs to be moisturized regularly to prevent it from getting dry and flaky which can result in more acne breakouts.
- While stepping out in the sun one must cover the face so that the face is not exposed to the harsh UV rays which damage the skin further.
- Avoid picking on the acne with fingers as it would just spread the bacteria elsewhere on the face. Keep your hands off the face and do not touch the acne unnecessarily. Also, if you have oily hair, keep the hair off your face.
- Relax and let your skin relax which is very important to look fresh and content. If you are happy and relaxed, it would be reflected through your skin. So do not bother your mind and skin with too many worries and concerns as they add to the problem even more.
- Lastly, avoid using makeup every day and always go for makeup and skin care products that are meant for acne prone skin.
Makeup for Acne Prone Skin
You must use basic skin care products, such as, cleanser, face wash, and moisturizer that suits your skin well. You may have to try a few products to check which one really suits your skin. Or you can also consult your doctor and ask for suggestions regarding products that you can safely use on your skin. Given below are some of the makeup tips for acne prone skin that you can consider when you HAVE TO wear makeup, say for parties or special occasions.
- Always wash your skin before putting on the makeup and use a mild skin cleanser which will clean the dirt as well as retain the natural moisturizer of your skin, preventing your skin from getting dry.
- Always use a moisturizer before wearing makeup as it helps you keep your skin well hydrated. You can also use tinted moisturizers which contain SPF and anti oxidants that prevents your skin from getting damaged further.
- A good quality primer can help you conceal the patchy and scarred skin. You must apply primer before the foundation for better absorption in the skin. Primer also conceals the fine lines and wrinkles from your skin making it look young and youthful.
- You can use a good quality concealer to hide the blemishes and red spots on your face. You must buy a concealer that can blend well with your natural skin color to save your face from looking very obviously made up.
- There are different types of foundations but people with skin prone to acne are suggested to go for mousse, semi-liquid, or powder foundations instead of liquid foundations as they can make the skin look more oily.
- You must never go to bed with your makeup on. Always remember to remove your makeup completely off your face. Wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water, pat it dry, and apply a little amount of moisturizer and then only hit the bed.
