Now tie a ribbon of you choice of color securely at the base of this strand of hair. Secure the ribbon to the strand with a bobby pin. Wrap the ribbon in crisscross pattern from top to bottom of the strand and secure at the end with an elastic band. Now curl the rest of your hair into one inch sections by using a curling iron. When you are done curling your hair, pin down the curls neatly at the crown by using bobby pins. Also, pin the ribbon wrapped section of hair to your crown. Mist your hairstyle with a hair spray.

For a fancy updo for medium length hair, first wash your hair and blow dry it with a blow dryer. With the help of a curling iron, curl hair all over so that you have loose waves. Divide your hair into two sections from ear to ear and clip the top section securely. Now section off the bottom portion of hair into two equal parts and start rolling the bottom of one section. Use the narrow barreled attachment of your curling iron to curl your hair into one inch sections. When you have curled all your hair, make a deep side part and pin down the excess hair with bobby pins. Mist your hairstyle with a hair spray so that the curls stay in place.
