How to Fix a Wet Cell Phone
There can be times when we may accidentally cause water to get in contact with our mobile phone. This can be when the cell phone falls in water or just gets wet while being in the pocket during a rainy day. What do you think you can do in such a situation? There are some simple tips and considerations that can help you save the cell phone from being damaged. These include being aware that water can cause severe damage to the inner parts of the mobile phone and using some simple things at home to dry the phone.
Tips on How to Fix a Wet Cell Phone
Dismantle the Phone
Dismantling the cell phone after it is wet is the most essential thing that you will have to do to save it from being damaged. This includes removing the cover or panel, battery, memory card and SIM card if it has one, and many other things that can be removed by a user. Do not try to remove the fixed panels which expose the circuitry.
Let It Dry Naturally
After you have taken out all the removable parts and cell phone accessories from the mobile phone or PDA, you now need to keep the phone and the components on a dry surface, preferably on a dry cloth. Wipe it carefully and delicately using a soft cloth or paper towel. Keep it for drying naturally under mild sunlight or just in a dry place.
Use a Vacuum Cleaner and Fan
In addition to letting the phone and its parts dry naturally, you can use a motor fan for drying out hidden moisture. A vacuum cleaner is also a suitable option for drying out a cell phone. You can run the hose through all small openings on the cell phone and its dismantled parts. It is suggested not to use a hair dryer, as it can damage the inner components on the integrated circuit.
Use Rice or Silica Gel Packets
A majority of the people are surprised when they are told that rice can be used to take the moisture out from a wet mobile phone. You will have to keep the wet cell phone and all of its parts in a bowl of rice overnight. You even have the choice of using silica gel packets as an appropriate alternative to rice.
Keep the Mobile Phone on Heat Vents
If you are wondering how to dry out a cell phone, you can consider using the heat vents present on desktop computer monitors and televisions. Just place the opened cell phone on the heat vents for sometime. However, make sure you do not keep it for a time more than required. Remember that extra heat can have an adverse effect on the inner components.
Take the Mobile to the Repair Shop
Even after following the above mentioned steps, the cell phone does not function normally; the last and the best option is to take it to a reliable cell phone repair shop. The repair technician would be the right person to tell you about the damage and the expenses involved.
These are some of the most common tips on how to fix a wet cell phone battery, screen, and other components. Take in mind that electricity and water never go hand in hand. Owing to this fact, the cell phone battery should immediately be removed from the body, which would prevent major damage.
