Evening Wedding Attire
Women, women. Where's the party is what men ask, what to wear is what women ask. Terms and phrases such as 'A-lines', 'evening gowns', or 'formals', when fused together to form a perfect evening wedding dress, often perplex me. Standing in front of the wardrobe, thousands of clothes yelling out loud to fall down, I feel I still am a girly girl - I have absolutely nothing, nothing to wear. Nothing appropriate would be more like it. And if it's a wedding I have to show at, my mind is no less than a madhouse. Did you just realize that you and me have something in common? We're sailors of the same boat, if you too have made a mockery out of yourself by picking up the wrong dress for a wedding in the past. Willy nilly, it's time to sit back and relax while I spill the beans about what should be the perfect evening wedding attire for both men and women.
For Women
I would highly appreciate if you could control your mind from making all possible guesses, and pick up the wedding invitation card, instead. Weddings that have a theme are, even though fun, befuddling when it comes to pick up the perfect wedding dress. All you need to do is, figure out the theme of the wedding. To start with, if the wedding is formal, it calls for a regular formal dress code. In this case, nothing's better than knee length dresses or long evening gowns. A-lines, and long evening gowns, particularly the ones that give you a mermaid look, are heart-melting. Pin up your hair, make a bun, apply some bright makeup (it's an evening wedding, dark makeup will complement you), wear a beautiful bracelet or bangle with the dress, and high heels. I cannot think of wearing a cocktail dress without heels. Somehow, I'm not confident. I'm not myself.
On the other hand, if it's a beach wedding, nothing better than a knee length floral dress, that gives you a rich look. Wear pearl jewelry with it, and not to forget, heels again. You need not tie your hair this time. Instead, pin up, or leave them disheveled. However, since it's during evening time that the wedding's taking place, forget not to apply beautiful makeup. You may choose to use shades of pink, and brown, or even smoky. The thing about choosing evening wedding dresses that have floral prints for beach weddings is that they are casual and chic at the same time. However, floral prints are a big no-no for formal parties. Dresses that have hardly one of two colors make for a perfect cocktail dress. Some furs, glitz, and accessories make up for a proper wedding attire.
For Men
Men have it way, way easy than women. Weddings for them are an easy way to flaunt their tuxedos, black ties, gelled hair, blazers, and what not! However, for a subtle evening wedding demanding formal dress code, black is the color. It's dark, and hence, it's safe. A man in black is every woman's dream (sigh, don't get me swayed away now!). Anyway, a perfect wedding reception attire for men would be a black suit, with black shirt of course, and a red tie? If red isn't your color, black tie would do. However, you need to make sure the wedding isn't in a casual city like San Francisco or Los Angeles! There, you could also go without a tie or tux. On the other hand, if at all, it's a beach wedding and kind of informal, a shirt that gives you a rich look, along with pants is the best pick for a beach wedding. It makes for a perfect summer code too.
Black may not be everyone's thing! However, remember, when it's night, it's got to be dark. Hence, refrain from wearing light colored suits. Wear it with formal wedding shoes, nicely polished, and please, please... be clean shaved for the wedding party, unless you are a look-alike of Johnny Depp looking perfect even with a goatee! Lastly, some hair gel would complete your look. Don't make it too funky, and end up looking like a rock star forcibly made to don a formal attire for the wedding. Style them nicely, in a formal hairstyle, and let the chicks do the rest for you at the wedding!
A subtle perfume, not a strong one, is a must for a wedding. Both men and women should take care of wearing a smooth fragrance that is your identity for the evening. Some dos and don'ts for women may include not wearing anything in white, as it collides with the color of the bridal gown that the bride's donning. Keep it stylish, and dark. Do not be too over-dressy, making a mockery of yourself. Instead, behave maturely, as if you're wearing a queen's wedding gown (trust me, It works!). As for men, suits as it is make you look mature. So, you need not jump around wearing your suit. Instead, behave calmly, and be a man!
Deciding on the perfect fall outfit to wear to a wedding may perplex you to the core. I agree that the bride and the groom may garner all the attention at the wedding. However, in no way should you compromise with your attire. Personally speaking, I've always picked up vintage dresses to wear to a wedding as a guest as they are classic, and remind people of old wine (Okay, this was one of the compliments I got!). So, you need to choose an attire that may not be the best, but the one you look your best in. That, according to me, makes up for a perfect evening wedding outfit, don't you think so?
